Sanjaya Malakar stays in Top 10 of American Idol

Inspite of the odds stacked againt him, Sanjaya managed to stay in Top 10 after the last emilimation in which other fellow contestant Stephanie Edwards was eliminated. Looks like the one of the MySpace users “J” is going to shed a few more pounds waiting for his exit next week since she vowed to go on hunger strike until Sanjaya is voted out. Courtesy votefortheworst.com and media hype surroung his capability Sanjaya sure managed to rake in good TRPs for the show. Its funny to see some of the theories surrounding Indian call centers working extra time to vote for Sanjaya. Hail the girl who cried her heart out during his last perfromance ensuring enough votes from the teenagers. Now Sanjaya gets to tour and it will be interesting to watch his performance. Fingers crossed. And Simon … you might be 10 steps away from quitting the show. Any rethinking?!

Indian Idol Is Here Again

“Indian Idol”, an adaptation of the foreign blockbuster “Pop Idol”, will soon appear in its new avatar on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) to continue its bond with viewers and give participants a chance to earn stardom and fortune.

To present the best singing talent from across the country in the most entertaining and engaging manner, the Indian Idol caravan will go to a dozen cities and organise auditions for budding singers.

Besides accomplished composer Anu Malik, the other judges of Indian Idol will be melody king Udit Narayan and “Kajra Re” singer Alisha Chinai. All of them are now here in Delhi for auditions that will be held in different parts of the city this Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Indian Idol 3 Auditions Underway

Much awaited season 3 of Indian Idol is underway. The auditions this year are being held at 12 Indian cities, courtesy Karunya, this year also saw for the first time an audition being held at Hyderabad. The auditions that are remaining as on date are:

Kolkata (March 24th, 25th & 26th),
Mumbai (March 31st , 1st & 2nd April

Registering is simple … actually a 3 Step one …SMS IDOL to 2525. You will be asked for a choice of the city (ex for Mumbai C) Send a reply to 2525 with C typed. You will receive another SMS asking for Name, DOB, Gender and Place of Residence. Send SMS in this format “II Mohan, 04/04/19XX, Male, Hyderabad” You will receive a confirmation SMS with the Reg No and the date when you will need to send an enquiry to check if you have been shortlisted for Audition. On the specified date send an SMS “IREG <Reg No>” to check. Hopefully you will also be provided with the location where you will have to reportFor those hoping they would meet the Judge Trio … you will be disappointed. There is usually a panel from Sony BMG who will go through each participant and shortlist them. Once a hopeful is screened and qualifies they are told of the location to report for the main auditions in front of the elite judges.

Its not sure if the format of American Idol is followed to the T in India … if looks matter be ready with it … if age matters you cant help it … All the best …
